A Destination for Well-being
Between ocean and fynbos, earth and open sky, between vision and action, thought and manifestation, lies The Space Between. An escape within a wild natural setting; a mini-retreat on the doorstep of central Plettenberg Bay; it is a place in which to pause, play, immerse yourself and take a deep breath.
Our concept was born from the need to create a dedicated home for various creative and wellness modalities. Here, each individual is supported to connect to your inner knowing— your deep self. It is a space that nurtures teachers, therapists and students alike, while igniting the sparks of connection between a growing community of people, and with the surrounding landscape.

Richi Lubner
SACRED SUNDAYS
In 1994 Richi moved to Australia after pursuing a professional tennis career on the ATP World tour. As destiny would have it, in that same year he discovered his teacher Master Xie Shoude from the Academy of Chi Advancement. This was to become the beginning of an incredible journey of almost 20 years of extensive training and discovery in the ancient alchemy, energy and self-mastery of Tai Chi, Qigong and Ying Yang Bhaguazhan.
Richi is not a self-proclaimed guru or master, but simply a fellow spiritual aspirant who loves to share his experiences and grow together with others, for their benefit.
Richi shares a holistic program (mind, body and spirit) that is focused around his personal journey, the challenges of learning to let go on many levels and yield to “what is”. This starts at body level and aims at empowering YOU to discover what may be blocking or inhibiting your natural flow. Then, through self-awareness and letting go, the release/relief can be found. The movements are purposefully gentle and slow, so as to invite you to go deep within, while at the same time increasing your vital force (chi) and energetic shield. Whilst this practice is a martial art, the focus is not on fighting skills but rather on leaning towards the cultivation of your inherent energy and life force.
“Learn to use the softness to overcome the firmness”.

Sarah Lock
SPORTS & THERAPEUTIC MASSGE
Sarah Lock graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic and Sports Massage in New Zealand in 2013. Her studies focused on finding the root cause of pain or dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system. This increases the chance of resolving the issue rather than continually treating symptoms.
Sarah enjoys helping anyone who is in any kind of discomfort, be it athletes in training or clients with stress-related tension. The session begins with an initial assessment, followed by a treatment combining trigger point therapy, Swedish and sports massage techniques. Stretching and strengthening exercises may also be given if required to aid the recovery process.
Lizl Pretorius
NIA DANCE
Having trained under the Royal Academy of Dance from the age of 5 and matriculating from the National School of Arts in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Lizl still took to the stage as performing artist in her 40’s. However, at age 44, she hung up her ballet shoes, devastated by the thought that her body was no longer willing or able to dance due to pain.
Nevertheless, after Lizl was introduced to the Nia Technique in Cape Town, she blissfully took the leap over to training and completing her White Belt in 2021 under the founder of Studio Kairos, and 2nd Degree Black Belt teacher, Susan Sloan. Lizl has been facilitating Classic Nia classes collectively for two years in Hout Bay, Observatory and Knysna, and is excited to be teaching pop-up classes at The Space Between.
Lizl says, ‘Your reason for NOT moving might be a lack of confidence, energy, pain, trauma, age, weight —the list goes on, and on. I have learnt through Nia that our bodies want to move in uninhibited, holistic ways….one barefoot step at a time, with absolutely no previous experience required. Come as you are, co- ordinated or not; your entire being will thank you for it.’
